Welcome to the web space for the Shoetales project, which invites stories about people’s shoes to be told on postcards.
LATEST NEWS!
A big flaming thank you to everyone who attended the Shoe Tales exhibition at Milkwood Gallery in Cardiff! For three weeks, all of the postcards sent to the project were brought together as a collection –an archive of correspondence from over two years, from people as near as Cardiff and as far as Alberta.
The Shoe Tales Book was also launched – a double sided concertina book hand made by Sarah Edmonds. Click here for some images and to buy a copy!
Inspired by other people’s stories, many visitors wrote their own shoe tales and added them to the collection. Click here to see photos from the exhibition
Now that the exhibition is done, Shoe Tales will continue to exist as a website, a resource for teachers and as a book. A big round of applause to everyone who sent their stories – may hand written letters and illustrated messages continue!
The Shoetales project has been running for almost three years now, during which hundreds of stories about people’s shoes have journeyed through the postal service towards the Shoe Tales HQ in South Wales.
You can view the ever growing collection of Shoe Tales on this website, as well as learn more about the project’s ideas, events and how you can take part. All you need is a pen, a postcard and your memory. Go!
